Riverhouse Retreat is nestled on four acres of deeply wooded forest in the North Georgia Mountains, and is the perfect rustic, romantic getaway.
Riverhouse Retreat is a beautifully decorated two bedroom, two bath log cabin overlooking Fightingtown Creek, that sleeps up to four (4) guests and offers the following:

We enjoyed our stay at the River house retreat. First the con’s: we were given a code to secure the key which was fine, however we were not told that the property had 2 lockboxes. Took us 15-20 minutes to access and only because we called and they told us about the other lockbox. Please minimize the amount of lockboxes for future guests or tell them which lock box to use. 2nd con- large amount of water and mud mysteriously appearing near the front door, I even swept the dirt and mud once to have the water appear once again. Now for the pros- cabin was very clean and super hospitable. We brought our small dog and she loved being a mountain dog. Location is amazing and printed directions were great, got us right there.Being on the creek and having the water right there was soothing and super relaxing, loved the front porch. Overall a great experience other than the minor issues stated above.
We loved it here so much. The cabin is located in a secluded, quiet, and peaceful location. The river is really close to it. This place was perfect for my two senior dogs (one with limited mobility and one who had a leg amputation in February as he fights cancer). They had such a blast walking down to the fire pit every day, listening to the birds, and basking in the fresh air. We made so many wonderful memories here, and we do plan to come back. We cannot wait!
First, the cabin is in a great location along Fightingtown Creek. The sound of the flowing water was very peaceful and the screened deck overlooking the creek was pleasant to stand on. No complaints about the setting.
The home needs to be updated and receive a deep clean. There was noticeable dog hair on the quilt in the downstairs bedroom and some type of oil-based stains on the bedsheets. Dog hair was present on the bedroom nightstand. One of the main reasons we enjoy Sliding Rock Cabins is the fact they allow pets without the exorbitant fees most other cabin rental companies charge, and the other cabin we have rented from them was very clean. This one was not and really needs a comprehensive cleaning. The refrigerator probably will need replacing soon since there was rust on the side of it.
The property is close to Blue Ridge and is a 25 minute or so ride to downtown. Whiskey and Water was a restaurant we tried for the first time and was great. Tipping Point Brewery had quality beer we tried before dinner.
All in all, if you want a quiet setting against a peaceful creek which isn’t too difficult to reach (while the roads are well-maintained, I would recommend at least a crossover-type vehicle especially on the secondary road that leads to the cabin) that gives you a lot of space along the water and can easily accommodate up to four adults, this is a good spot. It just needs some TLC in the cleaning department.
The cabin was nice and cozy. The view was so stunning and beautiful . The sound of the creek was so relaxing. The only downfall is it rained the entire time. I wish we would have stayed longer.
River House Retreat was wonderful. Cabin had everything we needed and is well maintained. Sliding Rock staff was helpful as always and easy to deal with. Our senior dog loved it as there were no steps for her to encounter which was helpful as she has some arthritis The creek and the deck porch area were our favorite.
Nightly Rates are for up to four (4) guests. No additional guests are allowed. All cabins require a cleaning fee, along with a Non-Refundable Processing Fee, along with Taxes. All rates and seasons are subject to change. Rates include the holiday and surrounding nights.
A fifty percent (50%) deposit is required when making reservations. The balance will be due thirty-one (31) days prior to arrival date. A refundable Security Deposit is required, along with a copy of a current picture identification, such as Driver’s License, Military, Firefighter, or Law Enforcement ID. Deposits will be returned for cancellations made more than thirty-one (31) days to arrival date, minus a $59 cancellation fee, plus tax. No refund offered for cancellations made thirty-one (31) days or less from arrival date.
