The one thing that we never considered was that our family vacation to the beautiful mountains of Mineral Bluff Georgia would be disrupted by a hurricane! We checked in on Sunday 9/22/24 and check out on Sunday 9/29/24. Helene moved though Georgia on Friday 9/27/24 after two days of heavy rain that were not even related to Helene! We are no strangers to hurricanes since we live in Fort Myers Florida but we also know that no two hurricanes are alike and always expect the unexpected from each one. So we prepared and knew that sheltering in place was our best option since trying to go home was not possible. We absolutely made the best choice! This cabin,
"A Creek Runs Thru It" was sheltered from the storm by it's location and it's sturdy design. The creek behind the house never left it's banks and the immediate area did not flood. Amazing as this sounds, to my knowledge, we never lost power nor did we lose the TV or the internet service!
As surprising as this sounds we had a great vacation! We had family that traveled from Oklahoma and Virginia. We all were amazed by the cabin and have never stayed such a well stocked and obviously well loved, by the owners, cabin! Our dogs must have thought that they were in heaven because they enjoyed the creek so much that it was difficult to get them to come out and take a break! When it wasn't raining everyone enjoyed walking the area and meeting some of the neighbors. The weather allowed us some real bonding time with our family and the cabin is fully stocked with games of all types to keep everyone busy. When we weren't playing games we were cooking in a kitchen that was better stocked with cooking equipment than most houses! The local grocery store named Ingles in Blue Ridge, GA is truly a extremely well stocked grocery store with very friendly employees even when faced with a hurricane and all the challenges that brings.
If you are looking for a peaceful home away from home "A Creek Runs Thru It" is going the be a wonderful option for you. We have already decided to make this cabin a vacation destination for our next family get together. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to enjoy some of the surrounding area next time!
We had a beautiful week stay and our fur babies Dexter, Daisy and Delilah loved being free and exploring the area! Our city babies became country!! Great location!! We did day trips to TN Ruby Falls, Ocoee river( great for rock hunting) beautiful dinners in Blue Ridge (shout out to The General Ledger)Great wildlife in the morning and evening!!! The cabin was beautiful and very clean and well kept! The management company is very resposive! Plenty of beautiful books and games for the kids! Fun fire pit for roasting marshmellow's in the evening!! We can't wait to return!
Gives loads of privacy while still being close enough to civilization. The wraparound porch with built-in gates to keep the dogs in is a great place to just sit and relax and even enjoy a meal. The fire pit also made for a great place to hang out as well. The moment the dogs saw the creek they made a beeline for it. The house is well-stocked with everything you could need for both humans and canines. We were there for 9 nights and didn't turn the living room TV on once. Absolutely fantastic place that we will definitely be returning to.
Overall stay was great. Prefer king bed to be on main floor, unable to use due to steps to instructions how to use remotes for tv.Grass needed cutting. Ants in kitchen on countertop.
We had the best time. The cabin was awesome. Creek in the backyard, Awesome. The weather was perfect. Did not need to leave once groceries stocked, everything you need to have a great time was there. Look forward to going back. The extras for the dogs made it even better.
